Jhoti, Manisha play for India U-17 women team

India U-17 women`s football team ended their Turkey tour on a successful note, winning the second of the two friendly matches 1-0 against Romania U-17 women`s side in Turkler, Turkey today. Priyangka Devi scored the all-important goal, converting a penalty kick in the 29th minute.

Earlier on February 16, the first friendly between the two sides ended in 3-3 draw also in Turkler. Mariyammal Balamurugan scored a brace for India, while Sumati Kumari netted the third goal.

Two players from Odisha played for the Indian team against Romania. They were Manisha Naik and Cuttack SAI Training Centre defender Jyoti Kumari. Before the Turkey tour, the U-17 girls had a successful exposure trip to Hong Kong. They also triumphed in the SAFF U15 Women`s Championship in Bhutan in 2019 where they defeated Bangladesh to lift the trophy.
